What's causing this loud humming from my front right wheel?

I just had to take the tire off because the outer tread was shredded down to the metal, I put a donut on temporarily. The ABS light has been on and intermittently goes off. I jacked it up and shook it vert/horiz and there's no give nor is there movement in the ball joint or tie rod. A friend of mine suggested a bad wheel bearing but shouldn't it have some give when shaken, and why is there only significant wear on the outer edge? It was aligned 3 months ago, I can't attest to how good a job they did but this tire took a lot of damage in a short amount of time so I don't think it could have been just the alignment.
