Could a harrier be used for a rescue mission?

For a Harrier, the main obstacle would be the fuel requirement.They have very limited range for VTOL operations. Another obstacle would be the terrain, which would have to be ideal. Flat and solid, basically, with a minimum of loose debris and able to sustain the weight of the aircraft. Helicopters are far more versatile, efficient and effective. theoretically possible, but an absurd idea except for a fantasy movie plot.
