Why do people adopt pitbulls?

I saw someone ask a question on here a while ago asking for advice on getting a rescue pit.... I'm kinda confused... like i love dogs? But I don't get it. There's tons of breeds out there that arent as dog aggressive and you dont have to worry about dog encounters and all of that.... there are breeds that wont turn on you and breeds that dont kill kids so im just curious why do people consider adopting a pitbull?
