Am I being REALISTIC about this?

Print Journalism IS dying. Another 5-10 years and it will be almost non-existent. That means there are very few jobs available in the future and you will need to get into a top grad school. With not much to go on except your GPA and your SAT score, getting into one of those will probably not be realistic. Your SAT is kind of low, and if you couldn't score higher than 1700 then you won't get the GRE score you will need, and your GPA is not stellar. Merely average for those applying to grad school, if that even.
